Facial Recognition-Another astonishing feature of Facebook

You might be surprised to read this but it's true. A new powerful feature has been launched by Facebook which has the ability to identify people in untagged photos. Unlike other features of Facebook, it is drawing ire from security firms and is being called as deceptive and unfair. This feature was introduced last month rather quietly. It could tag you in an untagged photo by comparing your face with the previously posted photos. It is not an opt-in feature and is turned on by default. Electronic Privacy Information Center or more commonly known as EPIC along few others have complained about this feature and have suggested that it should be an opt-in feature. As far as Facebook is concerned, they have acknowledged their lack of communication about facial recognition feature. On the other hand, they have alleged that the feature was introduced for making tagging suggestions for better and improved experience. However, Facebook officials remain silent on making facial recognition an opt-in feature.
